Skywest Public Lecture : Working Together: Taking Charge of Your Community Other events...
Can local government be a powerful force to build positive relationships within and between communities? Given the right encouragement and partnerships, communities can grow an innovative business culture, initiate strategically important projects and enhance the quality of life for all residents. Ms Scaffidi and Ms Fulker will explore the opportunities to bring about positive change for Albany and the Great Southern through local government and the ‘Committee for’ concept. They will share some of the experiences of the Committee for Perth and its relationship with the City of Perth and highlight some of the successful innovations this partnership has produced. The Committee for Albany, which includes South Coast NRM, the UWA Albany Centre, Silver Chain and the Port of Albany, stands outside of political divisions and aims to encourage innovation, creativity and sustainability in Albany’s cultural and economic life.
